What is the Heritage Sector? Heritage covers anything from the past which is valued enough today to protect for the people of tomorrow. Museums, historic buildings, archives, archaeology, education, events, and conservation come under the Heritage Sector.

You might be interested in - History, Geography, Humanities, archaeology, art, languages, fashion, performance, and so many of these things can be found in a museum. In 2021 The Danum Gallery, Library and Museum will open its new doors, boasting a beautiful building full of features and exhibitions. Culture and heritage play a huge part in forming the identity of a community, helping people learn about where they come from, what surrounds them in their town and it will inspire creativity, informal learning, and innovation.

Curating in a museum just means choosing nice things to go on display.

A curator looks after artefacts from the past, but also has to be the repository of knowledge about them, to be expert, to have spent 10,000 hours immersed in the subject. It involves having real knowledge of the items you are in charge of.
